University of Kentucky chemistry professor Anne-Frances Miller is no stranger to the competitive world of research among universities. She has been actively involved in her research within the Department of Chemistry at UK for five years. That research has helped her become the 2006 recipient of the Michael and Kate Bárány Award for Young Investigators from the Biophysical Society. She has received the award primarily based on 10 years of cumulative research in biophysics.
The Young Investigator's Award was established by the Biophysical Society in 1992. In recognition of an endowment gift from Michael and Kate Bárány, the award was renamed in 1998. Winners receive $2,000 towards their continuing contributions to the field of biophysics.
