Beilstein-Institut publishes first issue of new open access journal in organic chemistry

The Beilstein-Institut is pleased to announce the launch of Beilstein Journal of Organic Chemistry. The journal website is now live, and the first articles have been published. Director of the Beilstein-Institut Martin G. Hicks officially launched the journal at the American Chemical Society 230th National Meeting & Exposition in Washington D.C. today. Dr Hicks said "We are delighted that organic chemists are already taking advantage of the services offered by the Beilstein Journal of Organic Chemistry to make their work available to colleagues worldwide on an open access basis. The journal's unique combination of thorough refereeing, rapid publication and free availability to readers is proving attractive to authors."

Beilstein Journal of Organic Chemistry is led by Editor-in-Chief, Professor Jonathan Clayden of the University of Manchester, UK, and supported by a first class Editorial Advisory Board. It covers organic chemistry in its broadest sense, including: organic synthesis, organic reactions and mechanisms, natural products chemistry, chemical biology, organic materials and macro- and supra-molecular organic chemistry. The journal publishes outstanding original research on all aspects of organic chemistry and related disciplines and includes full research articles as well as preliminary communications.

Beilstein Journal of Organic Chemistry is a peer-reviewed online journal published by the Beilstein-Institut in co-operation with BioMed Central. As an open access journal Beilstein Journal of Organic Chemistry will allow readers free access to all content in perpetuity worldwide.

Beilstein Journal of Organic Chemistry invites organic chemists worldwide to submit appropriate manuscripts for consideration. The journal offers authors efficient refereeing, rapid publication and high visibility; it has no publication charges and authors retain copyright. Submitted articles should be original, unpublished work not currently under review for publication elsewhere. To facilitate rapid publication, Beilstein Journal of Organic Chemistry accepts only online submissions.
