STN Expreses Version 8.0 gives information professionals advance analysis and security capabilities

Arlington, Va., May 22, 2005 – New features in STN Express with Discover!TM Analysis Edition (Version 8.0) will allow information professionals to present their search results in improved reports or tables while also boosting their ability to search, analyze, visualize and review the world of scientific information. Chemical Abstracts Service (CAS) announced the latest version of STN Express at the Patent Information Users Group Annual Meeting being held this week in Crystal City, Va.

Among other features of STN Express, Version 8.0, the Variable Group (R-Group) Analysis Tool has been enhanced with the ability to analyze multi-component chemical substances and improves researchers' ability to preview substances to ensure the inclusion of relevant structures from the CAS RegistrySM. Several other enhancements have been added for chemical structure analysis and reporting.

"The updates and additions we have made to STN Express are a direct result of customer input," said Christine McCue, Manager, Online Services - STN. "We know information professionals have to be able to present search results in reports and presentations that are easy to assemble and communicate effectively the value they bring to information analysis. The new enhancements accomplish this goal."

Analysis Version 8.0 for Windows® includes additional new capabilities, including CAS Registry Number® and Role Report Wizard – provides an analysis of chemical substances and their corresponding CAS roles to find new areas of research Analyze Plus Wizard – provides more analysis options and editing capabilities

  • More secure Internet connection with Telnet encryption option
  • Automatic upload of individual gene sequences to DGENE and PCTGEN sequence databases, which makes searching easier
  • Post-processing tools provide flexible cell formatting in tables for better client presentations
  • An ability to export search results for use with the new STN AnaVistTM software.
