The American Institute of Ultrasound in Medicine (AIUM) announced the winner of the 2004 New Investigator Award at the 2004 AIUM Annual Convention in Phoenix, Arizona on Tuesday, June 22. The winner was Clark Zhe Wu, MS, with his presentation on Sonoelastographic Imaging of Interference Patterns for Estimation of the Shear Velocity in Homogenous Biomaterials.

The New Investigator Award is designed to encourage new clinical investigators to gain experience with performing and presenting ultrasound research early in their academic careers. The award with a prize of $1000, is presented each year to a new investigator (resident, fellow, faculty member, or sonographer in practice fewer than 5 years) who presents the best scientific abstract.

Mr. Wu, along with the 5 other nominees, presented his abstract on Tuesday, June 22, and the winner was announced later that evening at the AIUM Board of Governors banquet. The names of the 6 presenters and their topics will soon be posted on the AIUM website at www.aium.org.

Congratulations to Mr. Wu and the other nominees on a job well done!
