The award has been made for his advances in four research fields, namely, molecular mechanisms of cell differentiation, tissue engineering of normal and functional tissue of the face, biotechnology application to wound healing, and human genome bio-informatics and silico-molecular modeling.
Supported by Procter & Gamble Denture Care and given in memory of Willard J Tarbet, this award was established to encourage and give recognition to outstanding research accomplishments in the field of prosthodontics. The Research in Prosthodontics and Implants Award is one of the 15 Distinguished Scientist Awards conferred annually by the IADR, representing the highest honor the IADR can bestow.
