Grant and Award Announcement

NYU Langone Health / NYU Grossman School of Medicine

NYU Medical Center has partnered with Nowy Dziennik - Polish Daily News in New York to raise money to bring children with brain tumors to the US for surgery that can not be provided in their home country . Internationally known NYU neurosurgeons will operate on the children. Two successful surgeries have been completed, the first on thirteen year old Marta Biedrzyck and the second on nine year old Agata Holod, both from Poland.

A third child, nine year old Kordian Kurpiewski is arriving at Kennedy Airport, Monday, December 17 at 4:30pm courtesy of Lot Polish Airlines who donated airfare for all three children and an accompanying parent. He will be greeted by Poland's Foreign Minister, first woman Consul General, the editor of Nowy Dziennik; and representatives from NYU Medical Center.

Through generous contributions from private citizens in the US, Germany and Poland; Polish and German media outlets and others, enough money was raised to start the Children's Hope Fund to continue the mission to save as many children's lives as possible. Three more children await surgery.
