June 13, 2000 -- Many of Canada's leading arthritis researchers and practitioners will be speaking at the Canadian Arthritis Network's (CAN) Annual Conference in Toronto from Saturday, June 17, to Tuesday, June 20, at the Courtyard by the Marriott, 475 Yonge St.
Media are welcome to attend the open sessions, which will include topics such as the genetics of arthritis, disease management and the latest pharmaceutical developments in arthritis. Representatives from the Medical Research Council will also be on hand to provide an update on the Canadian Institutes for Health Research.
Arthritis affects more than four million Canadians, a number that is growing rapidly as our population ages. Everyone either knows or is related to someone who has arthritis, and the public needs to understand more about the symptoms, treatment and latest research into this disease.
