APsaA's 89th Annual Meeting to be held May 10-14, 2000 in Chicago

A psychoanalytic perspective on a wide range of clinical and societal issues will be the focus of the American Psychoanalytic Association¹s (APsaA) 89th Annual meeting which will be held from May 10 to May 14, 2000 at the Palmer House Hilton, 17 East Monroe Street, Chicago, Illinois. The hotel is conveniently located in the heart of the Loop, Chicago¹s central business district.

On Friday, May 12, from 11 a.m. to 1:00 p.m., the public will have access to a valuable tool on addressing the problem of violent youth in a special Forum that is free and open to the public. The forum will be moderated by John Callaway, award-winning former host of PBS¹s Chicago Tonight, and will be held in Preston Bradley Hall at the Chicago Cultural Center. The Public Forum is chaired by Chicago psychoanalyst Mark D. Smaller, Ph.D. and panelists include Isaiah Anderson, Ph.D. (University of Pennsylvania, Philadelphia, PA), Steven Marans, Ph.D. (Yale Child Study Center, New Haven, CT), and Stuart W. Twemlow, M.D. (Menninger Foundation and Clinic, Topeka, KS).

Cosponsors for the Public Forum are the American Psychoanalytic Association, the American Psychoanalytic Foundation, the Chicago Institute for Psychoanalysis, DePaul University College of Law, and the University of Illinois at Chicago.
