Cranfield University

Britain leads the way in motorsport engineering. The expertise of UK companies and their personnel are recognised the world over. If Britain is to maintain this pre-eminence then UK motorsport companies will need to recruit and retain suitably qualified graduates.

In response to developing the motorsport engineers of the future Cranfield University has secured a prestigious Masters Training Package- worth £450,000- from the Engineering and Physical Sciences Research Council (EPSRC) to develop a dedicated postgraduate level programme in Motorsport Engineering and Management (MSc). The course will be delivered from October 2000, the first of its kind in the UK.

In securing the contract, Cranfield demonstrated considerable support for a postgraduate motorsport course among leading motorsport teams such as Benetton, British American Racing, Prodrive and Reynard. The new MSc course has the endorsement of the Motor Sports Association (MSA) and has the backing of the Motorsport Industry Association (MIA) of which Cranfield University is a member.

The Motorsport Engineering and Management programme will be flexible in so far as it can be taken either on a full or part-time basis. Individual modules will be available for specific training purposes.
