Magnetic missionary Dr Simon Parsons of the School of Water Sciences, Cranfield University, has been invited to Japan. He is to deliver a lecture on his pioneering work on anti-scale magnetic treatment devices at the International Workshop on Chemical, Physical and Biological Processes under Magnetic Fields later this week. The conference is a highly prestigious event with backing from the Japanese Science and Technology Corporation, the National Research Institute for Metals, Japan, and the National High Magnetic Field Laboratory of the USA.

In December Simon will be part of a British Water -DTI trade mission to India to promote British expertise in the water sector. He will be a guest of the British Council who have identified Cranfield as the leading UK institution for water-related research. This follows on from Water Sciences' partnership with leading Indian water treatment company, Ion Exchange India.

Meanwhile, it's been 'wings to water time' for Professor Tom Stephenson, who visited the National University, Seoul, Korea, to deliver a keynote address on water recycling in October. Tom was invited to deliver his lecture at a strategic water conference that will influence the privatisation of water in South Korea. Tom's invitation reflects international recognition for Cranfield's work in water recycling.
