UCSF hosts educational symposium on menopause

UC San Francisco Women's Health is hosting an all-day educational symposium designed for women in the community called "Embracing Menopause: Traditional and Alternative Approaches." The symposium is part of the expanded educational programming of the UCSF Women's Health Resource Center designed to help promote health in the community.

Some of the university's leading women's health experts will present the most up-to-date information on the physical changes that occur during menopause. In addition, experts will discuss different treatments available, including traditional and alternative, to help manage menopausal symptoms and maintain long-term health.

TIME:   8:00 am - 4:00 pm
PLACE:   UCSF Medical Center, 513 Parnassus Ave. Room N-225 in the School of Nursing
COST:   $35, including lunch and educational materials

Topics to be discussed include hormone replacement therapies, phytoestrogens, common herbs and dietary supplements, and health promotion strategies. The UCSF National Center of Excellence in Women's Health, UCSF Women's Health and UCSF Women's Health Resource Center are sponsoring the symposium in conjunction with the UCSF School of Pharmacy, and the UCSF School of Medicine.
