Media advisory: 'Is the glass ceiling still there?' Topic of women chemists symposium at New Orleans ACS meeting August 22-26

The symposium will explore the status of women in chemistry and discuss the outlook for female students currently majoring in chemistry who will be entering the job market in the next few years. Dr. Nina Roscher of American University will discuss statistics concerning the progress women have made in the profession in the last 50 years. Other speakers will present personal perspectives on careers in industry, academia and government. The symposium is sponsored by the Division of Professional Relations, the Women Chemists Committee and the Young Chemists Committee.
