DAVID SATCHER, M.D., SPEAKS TO AMERICAN CHEMICAL SOCIETY MEETING IN ANAHEIM
U.S. Surgeon General David Satcher, M.D., will address the American Chemical Society, the world's largest scientific society, on building a better community health system, at a luncheon Monday, March 22, at the Anaheim Hilton.
Dr. Satcher is the guest speaker at a special luncheon honoring the 100th anniversary of the birth and accomplishments of black chemist Percy Julian who discovered the first treatment for glaucoma. Prior to being confirmed in 1998 as Surgeon General and as an Assistant Secretary for Health, Dr. Satcher was Director of the Centers for Disease Control. He also is a former president of Meharry Medical College, the nation's largest private black institution dedicated to educating health care professionals and biomedical students.
