Science Stories provides free footage for science video creators
Science Stories provides free access to broadcast-quality footage & interviews
European Science Communication Institute gGmbH
Launched in May 2024, Science Stories provides broadcast and online journalists with free stories coming from Europe’s science communities.
The site offers journalists and content creators free footage from the research projects finding new ways to overcome global and local challenges.
All footage is edited, mastered, and colour-graded to broadcast-level-quality (25fps, h264, mp4 format).
A typical story on Science Stories will contain:
-
A teaser video of the topic, typically 90-210 seconds long
-
The teaser video script, including the shot list, voiceover script, and scene descriptions
-
Longer footage of the locations and interviews from the teaser video, usually 6-20 minutes long
-
Footage shot list with timecodes and a short description of the location and scene
-
Full, unedited interviews of each expert in the teaser video, in their mother tongue or English
-
Interview transcripts, including timecodes, original quotes, and English translations
-
Optional: Photos/images/graphics
-
Optional: Press release/article
Science Stories is provided by the European Science Communication Institute (ESCI), a not-for-profit organisation that helps researchers to communicate their work.
Once registered, users can download footage without any need for payment or permission. People can also subscribe to the Science Stories newsletter to know when new footage becomes available, usually once or twice a month.
