Caption Up close, a genuine keypad to enter the PIN appears, with a non-traditional numerical order that changes with every use. As a viewer moves away from the screen, the genuine keypad becomes less perceptible and the traditional, 'decoy,' keypad becomes visible. At a 'safety distance' of three feet, the genuine keypad becomes imperceptible and only the decoy keypad is visible. An algorithm to determine the safety distance of a specific IllusionPIN keypad was developed in this research project at NYU Tandon.
