Anelasticity spectra with respect to water content.

Researchers from Japan suggest that the oceanic asthenosphere retains water. This difference in water content between the lithosphere and asthenosphere can account for the sharp drops in shear wave velocity at their boundary as well as other observed seismic phenomena.
