Patulin is a hidden threat in apples and apple juice.

Patulin, a mycotoxin, is produced by fungi that typically grow in damaged or decaying fruits, especially apples and apple-based products. Since the toxin is heat-resistant, it can linger on food products for a long time, causing a variety of health hazards, including gastrointestinal and immune problems, as well as increasing cancer risk.
