Effect of Simulating the Absence of Benefits on Beneficiaries’ Gratitude (IMAGE)

A new study from Sophia University, Japan, demonstrates that when an absence of benefits or gifts is simulated for beneficiaries either before or after they receive the benefits, there is no increase in their gratitude. This adds to the literature on understanding the different determinants of the emotion of gratitude.
