Inactivation of SARS-CoV-2 BA.2 and BA.5 at 220 nm and 260 nm as a function of UV dose (mJ/cm2) (IMAGE)
Caption
Solid circles show the viral infectivity obtained by TCID50 assay, and solid squares show the reduction in RNA amplification determined by qPCR, where the relative ratio to those of unexposed controls was used. The inactivation efficacy of (a) 220 nm light, which is considered safe for the human body, was approximately the same as that of health hazardous (b) 260 nm light for both BA.2 (dark dots) and BA.5 (light dots).
