太行山对华北平原大气边界层气象条件具有调整作用。热力结构方面(图b)，华北平原西部近山区受冷泄流和气流下沉增温影响明显，地面温度较低，高架逆温层较强，大气层结更稳定，污染物垂直扩散条件较差。动力结构方面(图c)，山体阻塞效应摩擦损耗动能，引起气流分流，使华北平原西部近山区的小静风气层更厚, 不利于污染物的水平输送。因此，西部近山区PM2.5浓度较高(图a)。
