The dynamics of transcriptome age during development. The top panel shows the changes of transcriptome age index (Transcriptome Age Index) during embryonic and larval development of C. elegans. High TAI indicates younger transcriptome and low TAI indicates older transcriptome. The lowest TAI period occurs in the mid-embryogenesis. The lower panel shows C. elegans embryos at 2-cell and gastrulation stages and adults.
