Attacking lymphocytic choriomeningitis virus (LCMV) (VIDEO) La Jolla Institute for Immunology This video is under embargo. Please login to access this video. Caption This spinning blue shape is the outer shell (glycoprotein) that shields lymphocytic choriomeningitis virus (LCMV) from immune system attack. And yet new research shows that an antibody (grey) can bind to and neutralize LCMV. We're now closer to designing vaccines and treatments against LCMV, thanks to this new work led by La Jolla Institute for Immunology (LJI) scientists Erica Ollmann Saphire, Ph.D., and Shane Crotty, Ph.D. Their paper, "Structural basis for antibody-mediated neutralization of lymphocytic choriomeningitis virus," was published Mar. 28, 2023 in Cell Chemical Biology.
