Southwest Research Institute has created an innovative, more efficient hydrogen compressor. The linear motor-driven reciprocating compressor (LMRC) is designed to compress hydrogen as a fuel source for hydrogen-powered cars. Unlike most hydrogen compressors, the LMRC is hermetically sealed and is driven by a linear motor that allows increased compression efficiency.
