Woods Hole Oceanographic Institution (WHOI) scientist Alan Seltzer collects a water sample in the North Atlantic off the coast of Bermuda, May 2022. By using a technique developed at WHOI, Selt-zer and colleagues made ultra-precise measurements of dissolved gas isotopes to unravel the phys-ics of gas transfer from the atmosphere to deep ocean.
