In a major new study of nearly 4,000 patients presented March 5 at the American College of Cardiology’s 2023 Scientific Session in New Orleans, researchers from Intermountain Health in Salt Lake City found that when clinicians take an “active” approach to statin selection by using one of two risk assessment tools doubles the rate of appropriate statin use in patients at risk for cardiovascular events over a passive (traditional care) approach.
