Complete biosynthesis of the precursors of vinblastine in Saccharomyces cerevisiae

Zhejiang University researchers successfully biosynthesized vindoline and catharanthine through a 31-step-long reaction in Saccharomyces cerevisiae. These compounds are precursors for the production of vinblastine, a potent anticancer drug.
