Structural model of the IFT-B complex (IMAGE) Aarhus University Caption The structural model of 15-subunit IFT-B complex. 16 different IFT-B proteins assemble into an IFT-B complex that serves as scaffold for polymerization into trains together with IFT-A complexes, cargoes and molecular motors at the base of cilium. The IFT trains are driven from the base to the tip of cilium by the kinesin motor where releases their cargoes. At the tip, the trains undergo conformational changes that engages the IFT dynein motor for transport from the tip towards the base of cilium. Credit Narcis A.
