Electrochemical cyclic voltammetry treatment initiates the formation of HyMoOx surface defects, which act as charge transfer channels for photogenerated holes. Via these charge transfer channels, the charge separation and photoelectrochemical performance of Mo-doped BiVO4 electrode are significantly enhanced.
