Sapanisertib effects on parasite metabolism (IMAGE)

The Penn State team used mass spectrometry and a process called metabolic fingerprint profiling to determine the parasite's response to sapanisertib. They found that the cancer drug affects the parasite’s metabolism of hemoglobin (shown as a decrease in blue in the top right of the “MetaPrint”, where each small hexagon represents a portion of the parasite’s metabolic function.
