Vaccine concern index (VCI) was defined and calculated from vaccine-related queries searched on Yahoo! JAPAN from August to September 2021 to measure societal concerns towards COVID-19 vaccines and investigate differences by prefecture, age, and gender. The higher the VCI, the higher the levels of societal concern towards vaccines or vaccination.
