Puppy Koa at Princeton University (IMAGE) Princeton University Caption Princeton researchers are leading the genetics work for the Dog Aging Project, which is studying tens of thousands of dogs over the course of their lives to develop a full picture of dog aging. Dogs and humans experience many of the same symptoms of aging and decline, including arthritis, dementia, diabetes and more. This puppy, Koa, pictured in front of Princeton University’s Nassau Hall, was trained as a service dog by Camden Olson, a member of the Class of 2018, for her senior thesis. Koa learned to monitor a diabetic’s blood sugar and to give sound alerts for out-of-range blood sugar levels. Olson chronicled their journey together on Instagram.
