Photo 1: (from left to right) NTU LKCMed PhD candidate Lee Khang Leng; NTU LKCMed Nanyang Assistant Professor Christine Cheung; and NTU LKCMedicine research fellow Dr Ng Chun-Yi recreated blood vessel cells from samples donated by 99 NAFLD patients and 56 healthy controls to be used as experimental models for the study. They found that NAFLD patients had up to three times the amount of chemokines compared to healthy individuals, which led to higher risk of blood vessel inflammation.
