Joseph B. Cantey, MD, MPH, is a pediatric neonatal and infectious disease specialist in the Long School of Medicine at The University of Texas Health Science Center at San Antonio. He led a study of eight Texas nurseries that cared for 9,277 babies over a three-year period. The nurseries made a significant commitment to serve these infants and their families by participating in the study, which evaluated the feasibility of telehealth consultations to reduce antibiotic usage in newborns.
