Teaming up to build a new particle accelerator

Kathleen Ratcliffe and Tien Fak Tan lead teams that play key roles in upgrading the Linac Coherent Light Source X-ray free-electron laser at SLAC National Accelerator Laboratory. Ratcliffe's job is to coordinate the manufacturing, distribution and installation of the parts that make up the accelerator. Tan oversees the engineers who design the parts.
