Fish and Humans Share Same Visual Cues (IMAGE)
Caption
Ben-Gurion University of the Negev researchers tested whether the visual processing capabilities that allow humans to find objects quickly in a busy environment are similar for fish. The BGU team trained the archerfish to shoot at a target on a computer screen. Results showed fish are guided by the same visual features as humans: color, size, orientation, and motion. Efforts to spot a target with a slightly different shape or within a conjunction of two visual features (such as both a different color and size) resulted in slower visual search.
