Slices of Mice Brains at Different Periods (IMAGE)
Caption
Slices from the brains of mice at different times, following treatment with MDA, METH or the saline control solution. The dark colouring in all saline-exposed brains indicates a high density of dopaminergic nerve terminals. The lighter colouring in the brains of mice exposed to either MDA or METH indicates a substantial loss of nerve terminals within 18 hours of drug treatment, and which lasted for at least one week.
