Jagged Ligands (IMAGE) Rice University Caption New research at Rice University shows how tumors create chaos in the development of neighboring blood vessels, causing them to grow too quickly and not form properly. The notch signaling pathway that controls the fate of cells that form blood vessels can be corrupted, as jagged ligands take control from delta ligands and encourage the creation of tip-stalk hybrid cells that play havoc with growth.
