In much of sub-Saharan Africa, men are less likely than women to be tested for HIV, to receive care, and to adhere to treatment. Sonke Gender Justice, a non-governmental organization in South Africa, and the University of Cape Town are Brown's partner in an effort to improve health outcomes for men in Cape Town.
