When SMAD4 is tyrosine phosphorylated by activated BRK, it interacts with chromatin-modifying complexes (such as the Sin3/HDAC, NuRD, and NuA4 histone acetyltransferase complexes) and transcription factors to achieve broader genomic access to regulate gene expression.
