Micro and Macro Scale (VIDEO)
Caption
A new modeling technique enables researchers to see what happens inside red blood cells affected by sickle cell disease. Attempting to model each individual hemoglobin molecule is too computationally expensive. This new modeling scheme simulates each molecule only where it's needed and dials back the resolution when such details aren't necessary.
