Corn Growing at the Experimental Station at Cold Spring Harbor (IMAGE)
Caption
Researchers at Cold Spring Harbor are among those growing corn, or maize, for the purpose of analyzing its genome's structure. the latest insights come from advances in sequencing and mapping of the maize genome, now possible to do at super-high resolution at a small fraction of the cost ($150,000) of the first, and much less detailed full maize genome sequence ($35 million).
