Molecular biologist Alice Cheung at UMass Amherst, with collaborators at Stanford, in France and in Germany, say their new paper shows for the first time that FERONIA is an essential part of plant cell-wall-to-cell communication. Without FERONIA, the cell wall loses its ability to sense and communicate environmental conditions.
