New Clues Could Help Scientists Harness the Power of Photosynthesis (IMAGE)
Caption
Figure 1. This illustration is a model of Chl f synthase, potentially a ChlF dimer, based on the known X-ray structure of the core of the Photosystem II reaction center. Photosystem II is the light-driven enzyme that oxidizes water to produce oxygen in plants, algae and cyanobacteria. The bright green molecules near the bottom of the structure are imagined to be substrate Chl a molecules that would be oxidized in light to produce Chl f.
