Photodynamic Therapy Process

Once delivered into the body, the Ru-complexes accumulate in tumor cell lysosomes, which are sacs that are present inside of all cells. A light source, such as a laser, activates the complexes, which then generate ROS, and this in turn causes the cells to die -- necrosis or apoptosis.
