Toolik Field Station located on the south shore of Toolik Lake, North Slope Alaska, is a major site for national and international research in the North American Arctic. The National Science Foundation awarded $16.3 million to the station, administered by the Institute of Arctic Biology at the University of Alaska Fairbanks, for a five-year cooperative agreement to operate the facility.
