Color-coded Blood Cells (IMAGE) Boston Children's Hospital Caption The Zebrabow system induces blood stem cells and their progeny to display unique colors. This blood smear shows red blood cells that have been tracked with color tags comprised of random combinations of red, green and blue fluorescent proteins. Cells of the same color originate from the same 'mother' stem cell.
