Zika in the Adult Brain (IMAGE)

Illumination of the fluorescent biomarker in green revealed that the adult mouse brain could be infected by Zika in a region called the subgranular zone of the hippocampus. Full of neural progenitor cells, this part of the brain is important in learning and memory.
