Bacterial Growth (IMAGE) DOE/Argonne National Laboratory Caption Scientists seeded this petri plate with KLE1738 and bacteria from human stool. KLE1738 is dependent upon gamma-aminobutyric acid (GABA), an inhibitory neurotransmitter found in mammalian central nervous systems. Any colony that supports growth of KLE1738 is a GABA-producer. Many colonies on this plate are producing GABA.
