Caption
Arizona State University psychology graduate students Ahra Ko and Cari Pick explain how an international study including 27 countries and more than 7,000 people has identified caring for family as the most important motivation in people's lives. For 40 years researchers focused on romantic and sexual partners, but these motivations were rated as relatively low priorities. Caring for family members was associated with well-being, and seeking romantic partners was associated with unhappiness.
