Kenneth S. Henry (from left), a postdoctoral researcher, and Michael G. Heinz, an associate professor, of Purdue's Department of Speech, Language and Hearing Sciences found that background noise causes the ears of those with hearing impairments to work differently. The findings are published as a Brief Communication in Nature Neuroscience.
